Mayor Spence 2017

City Mayor's Blog

I am very proud to be the first Mayor for the City of Warman.

From the first time I came to visit Warman over 30 years ago it has been very apparent Warman's charm comes from it's people.  The residents of Warman welcomed my family back then, and they continue to share their friendly community with all who come to live here or visit this fine City.  I am pleased to  have this kind of oppurtunity to share on a monthly basis, the good news and positive actions taking place in our community, the City of Warman.  Grab a cup of coffee and read on what is current and happening in the City of Warman.

BRRRrrrrrr.... It has been a very COLD Winter!

Posted on February 12, 2013 at 10:39 AM by Sarah King

Brrrrrr it has been a very cold winter.

I think it is safe to say most of us are hoping these cold days of January will quickly pass into the milder days of February.

Last week we said goodbye to a couple long time Warman residents. It was a very sad time for family and friends.

Both of the these great ladies were very involved in volunteerism in our community. When I say involved I mean really involved right up to her final farewell. Huge losses to our community.

As I sat at these services I looked around and noticed that many of these family and friends gathered had been or still are dedicated volunteers here in Warman.

I also noticed what good friendships that had been nurtured over the years and how they still connected even though many have moved from Warman. For most they met through volunteering at different community events and fundraisers and have built good friendships that have lasted for years.

Now for most of these community minded volunteers they have passed on the torch to a new group of young and eager community minded volunteers.

These newbies as I like to call them have stepped up in big ways a couple of examples would be, last week I was so pleased to see how Crystalbrooke Community Group worked through social media and their school community to fund raise for new stage curtains at our Warman Elementary School. This group with all their efforts raised over $1,000.00 in a short time for the cause.

This same week Warman Community Association donated $10,000.00 for tables and chairs for the Legends Center.

WOW!!!!! What team work and fantastic community spirit. This is great to see the extra mile these community members will go to support our new city.

These are only two groups mentioned but there are many who have supported our community and our people through events, fundraisers and community programs.

We all can do our part either by choosing to volunteer or by supporting the many opportunities these groups present us to support. I have heard it said this way, Nobody can do everything, but everyone can do something. – Gil Scott-Heron. We all have our part to play. What will be yours?

Thank you to all our Volunteers. Our community would not be what it is without all your care and attention you dedicate to Warman.

God bless you all ...
