"The best of all gifts around any Christmas tree: is the presence of a happy family all wrapped up in each other." Burton Hills
Here I sit inside a warm home, with a fire crackling in the back, cozied with a cup of hot tea, in my favorite chair. Outside is cold, so very cold, but the light frost and snow covered ground gives a picture of nature’s majestic beauty in our harsh Saskatchewan winters. Enjoying this tranquil moment, I sit here and pause and reflect on the important things around me - family, good health, faith, good friends, and this special time I have to spend with the people closest to my heart. Laughing, sharing, playing, eating together, and enjoying each other. Time carved out of our busy lives just for each other.
Last week we were informed by the Warman Food Bank of the increased needs in our community. I was so encouraged to see residents, city staff, council, and our own Warman Fire Department look for ways to help reach out and do whatever we could to fill the gap for community families in need. Many people have decided to adopt a family, and the fire department went 'a caroling' in order to raise money for the food bank. Now this is the kind of caring community we all want to be a part of!
Charles M. Schulz quoted: "Christmas is doing a little something extra for someone." Although we do want to share more during the festive season, keep in mind the Warman Food Bank needs your support all year long. Thank you to everyone who wrapped their caring arms around this project and gave what you could. This Christmas many families will feel that special Christmas feeling because of YOU.
Christmas is also a time when we can look back on the year that has passed and prepare for the year ahead. Where we have been, and where are we going? What we have done, and what we still plan to do. We have had a very busy year, good gains, some loses, but all in all, a growing community that has opportunity and prosperity all around us. We have so much to be thankful for!!!
On behalf of City Council, City Staff and my family;
May lovely, happy times decorate your holiday season; may warm special memories brighten your New Year; may the wonder of Christmas be with you today and always! ~ Sheryl
