Power outages seem to be plaguing Warman this year. This is an inconvenience for the residents as well as the businesses. This has caused an interruption in the operation of day to day business as well as potential equipment damage. These surges and lapses in power have caused the business community a real concern about the lack of timely intervention in regards to this matter. We are wanting answers and solutions to this issue with the SaskPower service we have come to rely upon. Warman is at the end of the power loop and we have been told that SaskPower is working on an Area Reinforcement Plan to enhance this service. Warman City Council has administration working on setting up a meeting with SaskPower in the upcoming week in order for us to get the facts on the procedure, and to reassure that something is being done to increase this service so it will be at a standard that would be expected from any community.
This week our little people will be scouring our streets Trick or Treating. I hope it is more Treating than Tricking. I always get such a kick out of the little ones and their excitement of this season. Their costumes are so cute, except for the odd scary one. You also see some costumes so big you can hardly see their little faces
For the rest of us out there that evening take it slow and watch out for all the little people running here and there. They may not be paying attention to the roads like they should.! Now, that my children are grown, I do miss these times. So parents enjoy with your little ones, all of these special times will make up a lifetime of memories. It all sneaks by so quickly! Trust me I know. If you would like an alternate to going outside door to door, the Legends Center is hosting a Halloween Howl Party on Thursday, October 31st from 3:30 - 6:00. The staff is promising fun, treats and a SPOOKTACULAR event indoors.
Speaking of Trick or Treats, last week with the announcement of another new School partnership in Warman, I thought maybe someone was playing a trick on me. The last time we needed a new school here we had to lobby in a way that I am sure we became thorns in few back sides. So this time it has been a treat to have a very welcomed and necessary announcement for a couple new schools in our community. Now it wouldn't be really interesting unless it had some controversy swirling around it. This P3 partnership has its share of opinion around that piece of the puzzle. The other piece is that Warman is getting a Catholic School and a Public School which will be connected in some way. That has created lots of questions. All I can say about this new plan is kudos to our Provincial Government for thinking outside of the box and coming up with an innovative solution to overcrowding in our schools. Here in Warman we are all about partnerships. We looked for ways to partner and save tax dollars long before it was popular. How this new partnership is going to play out no one knows yet. But I do know from past experience if we all work toward the same goal “our children's futures” we can make this work and work well.
Be proud of our Saskatchewan and all that is happening here right now.
