Mayor Spence 2017

City Mayor's Blog

I am very proud to be the first Mayor for the City of Warman.

From the first time I came to visit Warman over 30 years ago it has been very apparent Warman's charm comes from it's people.  The residents of Warman welcomed my family back then, and they continue to share their friendly community with all who come to live here or visit this fine City.  I am pleased to  have this kind of oppurtunity to share on a monthly basis, the good news and positive actions taking place in our community, the City of Warman.  Grab a cup of coffee and read on what is current and happening in the City of Warman.

Summer has arrived.  The sun and heat is welcomed like a long lost friend.
Summer brings people outside, and after a long winter, we are now reconnecting with neighbours and friends around back yard barbecues and   fire pits. How relaxing the long days of summer are!  Even cutting the grass and puttering around the yard is welcomed. There is nothing like the smells of summer - freshly cut grass, flowers and Barbecues. I love summer!!!

Summer Fun dress up

With the summer school break there is no shortage of activities for our community to take part in, from sporting events, summer fun programs to vacation Bible school.  Why not take your children to the spray park, then wind down at the Warman Wheatland Library for their summer programs.  There is something here in Warman for all of us!

We started our summer with Canada Day in the Lions Park. The weather cooperated which brought out families to enjoy a day of family fun; and later, ended with a movie in the park and a fireworks display that lit up the night sky. It was hard to pick out a favourite because there were so many big and beautiful fireworks to choose from! Our Warman fireworks display is getting bigger and better every year. The Warman Fire Department does a great job organizing this luminous part of Canada Day.

Pic of Baseball.jpgOver the weekend I had the opportunity to watch some Provincial Squirt/Peewee Girls Softball. Friday, the first day of the tournament, they had over 600 people come through the gate to cheer on their team of choice. With a Bagpiper leading the procession for the opening ceremonies, it was quite a spectacle to see all the teams line up on the field. A big thank you goes out to Dustin Sommerfeld, and his team of volunteers, who organized and took care of every detail over the weekend.

I would like to thank the many Warman staff and community volunteers who work hard behind the scenes to accommodate summer activities and programming. We really appreciate these community services not only in the summer but all year long. Thank you!

Nothing can beat our Saskatchewan sunsets. Spectacular, beautiful and breath taking are some of the words to describe the sunsets I have witnessed over the years right here at home. Enjoy nature at work. Whether at home or on the road, enjoy this season and let's hope our summer is like our winter was.… LONG.

A life without love is like a year without summer.
