Mayor Spence 2017

City Mayor's Blog

I am very proud to be the first Mayor for the City of Warman.

From the first time I came to visit Warman over 30 years ago it has been very apparent Warman's charm comes from it's people.  The residents of Warman welcomed my family back then, and they continue to share their friendly community with all who come to live here or visit this fine City.  I am pleased to  have this kind of oppurtunity to share on a monthly basis, the good news and positive actions taking place in our community, the City of Warman.  Grab a cup of coffee and read on what is current and happening in the City of Warman.

We have many seasons - for our young people graduation season is their time to shine, to plan, and to say farewell to their carefree days of high school and look forward to what lay ahead as they take the next step in their lives.

All the planning with picking out; the dress, shoes, hair-style and of course the right escort for this special day, is all a big part of graduation season. All of this also helps to deflect from the nervousness of closing one door in your life and opening another. Anxiously, as we are waiting for our Grads to enter the auditorium, we as parents, relatives, friends and a community see the transformation from pony tails and sneakers to gowns and suit jackets as they file one by one into their seats.  An emotional moment when we visually realize our children have grown up right before our eyes and we hardly noticed how fast it happened. The promise of their future is right there shining in their eyes as they stand proudly thinking to themselves, I did it, I graduated. Excitement in the air, but also reservation and a sense of panic, knowing the school days of the past will be a future memory in the coming weeks. In that moment and maybe for the first time, our graduates are realizing they are going to miss it.  Things they took for granted such as friends, the classes, the commotion in the hallways, field trips, study time, and the many teachers that have had a hand in developing their future, will all be missed.  Yes I said it and I promise it to be true, your school days WILL be missed. However; embrace the past, be grateful for it, learn from it and move on.

Graduation is a time to celebrate what was, and what may be.  So grads and parents, hold on to these moments because they are so very special; today, yesterday and tomorrow these moments make up a precious life time.

Our future lies before us like a beautiful ocean, some days calm, some days rough but always beautiful.  Grads, our hope is that your graduation day will be a time of reflection, celebration and enjoyment. Embrace your future with a passion for life and for all the marvels that lay ahead for you. Roads to travel, mysteries to unravel, it is all at your fingertips.  Grab it and don't let go until you have carved out your special place in this crazy world we love so much.

Congratulations to all the 2013 Graduation class.  Bless you and keep safe today, tomorrow and always.
