Recreation, Culture & Park Master Plan

Recreation, culture and parks are significant contributors to people’s quality of life. Encompassing sports, parks, arts and culture, leisure pursuits, and the natural setting, these elements of Warman enrich the lives of residents and strengthen the community. Through efforts of the City and the many organizations, groups, and individuals, residents are provided with a broad array of opportunities to participate in programs, activities, and events in many indoor and outdoor settings.

In order to effectively make decisions about service provision and resource priorities, the City of Warman is undertaking the development of a Recreation, Culture & Parks Master Plan. The master plan will assess the current state and identify priorities and recommendations regarding the provision of facilities, active lifestyle opportunities, and services to meet the needs of residents and visitors over the next decade. RC Strategies + PERC (a planning company) has been retained to work with the City to complete the Master Plan.

Consultation with the community is critical to the development of the master plan. Community partners, organizations, and
residents will be provided with opportunities to share their thoughts on the current situation and future needs. A survey
will be fielded in November/December to gather the opinions of area residents. As well, the perspectives of community
groups will be gathered late in 2018.

“Recreation, culture & parks services and programs help improve our overall health, strengthen families, and enhance our entire community,” said Mayor Sheryl Spence. “I strongly encourage all city residents to provide their input and have their say about the new master plan when given the opportunity. This is an important project that will guide how these services in Warman are provided for years to come.”

The Recreation, Culture & Parks Master Plan is scheduled for completion by the summer of 2019. For more information about the master plan process please contact Paul McGonigal (Recreation and Community Services Manager) at
