Utilities Clerk: Responsibilities



The utility clerk acts as a liaison between the public and the Public Works Department where water, sewer, garbage, and recycling is concerned. The utility clerk is responsible for providing administrative clerical duties related to the municipal utilities in order to ensure that municipal financial transactions are processed in an accurate and timely manner. This includes:

  • billing of account
  • set up of accounts
  • collection of accounts
  • collection of water deposits
  • processing work orders

Notice: 

Loraas Disposal will be in charge of delivering garbage and recycling carts to our residents. This includes new homes needing carts and existing homes wanting an additional cart. 

Cart delivery will be done on Mondays only. The city will no longer have additional carts on hand. 

Requests for all carts can be made through the utility clerk at City Hall (306) 385-2322.



Public Works: Responsibilities 



The Public Works Department is responsible for the oversight, repair and ongoing maintenance of transportation and utilities in the City of Warman. 

The transportation branch is primarily focused on the development, upkeep and maintenance of city streets, back lanes and above/underground storm drainage. Maintenance of these aspects changes according to the season. Duties include: 

  • street sweeping
  • grass cutting of municipal property (back lanes and boulevards)
  • dust control on gravel roads
  • spring/fall cleanup
  • road crack sealing
  • line/crosswalk painting 
  • sign replacement and new sign installation
  • snow removal and sanding/salting of residential roadways
The primary role of the utilities branch is to monitor and maintain the city's sewage pumping stations, water distribution system, hard-wired storm pumps and fountains. Maintenance of these aspects changes according to the season. Duties include: 

  • checking lift stations
  • responding to emergency calls and departmental complaints with regards to water related issues
  • sewage pump inspections and load tests
  • monitoring and sampling of water and effluent 
  • water meter reading
